Each week, Becky Tirabassi, pastor and podcaster, invites you to become a culture-changing leader through the lens of L.E.A.D. Whether you are a parent, professor, politician or young professional, you can start today and join 100’s of others in being (1) LOYAL to God’s Word, (2) ENCOURAGING to others, (3) tADVOCATES for the young generation, and (4) DEVOTED power-houses in prayer!
This week, Becky introduces another of her favorite authors to you—as her “virtual” guest—on The Weekly Lead Podcast, quoting J. Oswald Sanders, a trainer of missionaries in the 20th century and author of Spiritual Leadership.
LOYALTY to God’s Word: As she does each week, Becky gives you a preview of next week's Change Your Life Daily Bible readings. This week, you’ll open the Gospel of Luke, which is Becky’s favorite Gospel especially as it has been called The Gospel of Prayer. The Old Testament readings this week will both convict and motivate you to higher standards of leadership, especially Proverbs 11:13.
ENCOURAGEMENT to Others: Among the numerous encouraging quotes in Spiritual Leadership, perhaps none is greater than the one that Becky shared at most events for over two decades: “You’re as full of the Holy Spirit as you want to be.”
ADVOCACY for the Young Generation: J.O.Sanders was a list maker, as well as a question asker. Becky has used his book for training for over two decades with all of her youth staff because they are timeless and full of truth.
Finally, The WEEKLY LEAD PODCAST always closes with a reminder that a leader must be DEVOTED to Prayer. J.O. Sanders’s dedicates an entire chapter on “Prayer and Leadership,” from which Becky highlights many “zingers” including, “Great leaders of the Bible were great at prayer!”

This week, Becky's "virtual guest" is William Wilberforce, author of Real Christianity written in 1797! She is certain you will be amazed at how relevant and contemporary Wilberforce's words sound to a 21st century audience. Since (and perhaps because of) discovering his book in 2006, Becky has been inspired by Wilberforce's example of genuine faith combined with culture-changing leadership.
In this week's episode, Becky threads the story of The LEAD HOUSE, a prayer and fellowship house, she established in Washington, D.C., throughout her four proven "LEAD" tenets:
Loyalty to God's Word: This week in The Change Your Life Daily Bible, you will the blessing of God, delivered by Moses, in Numbers 6:24-26 in the Old Testament and hear Jesus Himself speak to leaders about living "above the culture." She describes the confession session of Psalm 51 (one of the more prominent Psalms of David), and a warning from Proverbs about the power of one's words. [Wilberforce was a strong proponent for daily Bible reading, believing that God's Words mattered most in guiding one's life, whether a parent, politician, pastor, or student.
Encouragement to Others: In this segment of The WEEKLY LEAD PODCAST, Becky shares encouraging Wilberforce's advice for "those who possess authentic faith" in a society where faith is declining.
Advocacy for the Young Generation: The very first paragraph of Wilberforce's book talks about how the education of a nation's young generation must be prioritized on "learning the things of God." He challenges readers in every century with the reminder that "authentic faith cannot be inherited!" Becky has spent 40 years with students in each of the past four decades--and yet, there has never been a more anxious time for students. Take her guest's advice to hear!
Devotion to Prayer: Similar to Wilberforce, Becky is calling a nation back to God through daily prayer and Bible reading--calling them "the essentials" of authentic faith!

As a lover of classic Christian books by culture-changing authors, Becky is spending the next few weeks introducing you to her favorites!
And if you’re new to THE WEEKLY LEAD PODCAST, each week, Pastor Becky Tirabassi takes listeners and viewers through four powerful, proven tenets for 21st century leaders: Loyalty, Encouragement, Advocacy, and Devotion.
This week…
LOYALTY TO GOD’S WORD: For over 38 years, Becky has read through the entire Bible each year in just 15 minutes a day. This week you will be reading from Leviticus where God asks the people to “be holy.” Still relevant, right? This week in the Gospel of Mark, a blind beggar will SCREAM for Jesus, despite being shushed and shamed. The result? He was healed. Finally, this week’s Psalms and Proverbs are poignant, certainly convicting. Don’t miss them! For your own copy of the Change Your Life Daily Bible: Study Bible Edition, visit Amazon.com and to follow Becky’s “Change Your Life TV” daily commentary on “today’s” Daily Bible reading, visit: Instagram.com/beckytirabassi
ENCOURAGEMENT TO OTHERS: J.I. Packer describes one of the greatest benefits of knowing God: peace. “Peace with God” is a gift we receive, as well as a message about God that we can give to others. Change the atmosphere of every relationship by telling others how to receive “peace with God.”
ADVOCACY FOR THE YOUNG: No matter how old you are, you can influence the young generation. Becky quotes Packer’s 4 GREAT effects of knowing God—“must have” reading for your library, yes?
DEVOTION TO PRAYER: Becky has been praying one-hour daily for over 38 years. This week, she chose Packer’s 5 pitfalls to hearing God’s voice in prayer as her closing challenge!

The WEEKLY LEAD PODCAST WEEK 8
Becky Tirabassi, pastor and podcaster, invites listeners to become culture-changing leaders through the lens of L.E.A.D. Whether you are a parent, professor, politician or young professional, you can start today and join 100’s of others in being (1) LOYAL to God’s Word, (2) ENCOURAGING to others, (3) true and meaningful ADVOCATES for the young generation, and (4) DEVOTED power-houses in prayer!
This week, Becky brings to her podcast a 20th century virtual guest —a former Chaplain of the US Senate, author of “Mr Jones, Meet the Master, and Pastor in Washington, DC—Dr. Peter Marshall. Becky’s love for Peter Marshall’s prayers and sermons have always inspired her as an author and speaker, but never more so than as the Founder of The LEAD HOUSE, a prayer and fellowship house for Members of Congress in Washington, DC.
LOYALTY to God’s Word: This week, Becky gives you a preview of next week's Change Your Life Daily Bible readings—introducing two new books in the Bible, Leviticus and Mark. Her insights give you background into the author’s intentions by bringing the Story of God to life in your life. Additionally, Becky shares her favorite Psalms from this week (37 and 40), and reminds you about the poignancy of Proverbs!
ENCOURAGEMENT to Others: Peter Marshall was not shy in pointing out the weaknesses of the leaders around him! And he often did it through prayer! In his compilation of prayers and sermons in “Mr Jones, Meet the Master,” he said, “Most of us know perfectly well what we ought to do; our trouble is that we do not want to do it.” Peter wanted to challenge leaders to raise the standards around them, especially to encourage, rather than criticize or undermine. Will he change your mind?
ADVOCACY for the Young Generation: Peter Marshall spoke to his culture of leaders openly about the topic of alcohol abuse. Decades later we are looking at massive numbers of Americans who are addicted, not only to alcohol. Becky refers to a current book, Dopesick, that describes how leaders appear to ahve abandoned the young generation. Becky asks, "What can you and I do to reverse the trend?"
Finally, The WEEKLY LEAD podcast always closes with a reminder that a leader must be DEVOTED to Prayer. In Becky's classic book, Let Prayer Change Your Life, she quoted Peter Marshall numerous times. She hopes a favorite quote of hers becomes a favorite quote of yours: "When I neglect to pray, mine is the loss!”

The WEEKLY LEAD PODCAST SHOW NOTES: WEEK 7
This week, Becky inspires you to be a culture-changing leader by introducing you to one of her favorite influences, Henri Nouwen, who was a 20th century educator, priest and author. She allows Nouwen’s words to give you a classic view of leadership as you follow along with the LEAD tenets:
Loyalty to God’s Word
Encouragement to Others
Advocacy for the Young, and
Devotion to Prayer.
LOYALTY: Asking the question, “What might God do if you and your sphere of influence would read the entire Bible in a year," she gives you a peek of the week from this week’s daily Bible readings in the Change Your Life Daily Bible. From the creativity of the Tabernacle artists to the challenge of the Great Commission at the end of the Gospel by Matthew, Becky is certain that leaders who read the Bible together will experience revival! Are you in? #biblerevival (Follow Becky's Daily Bible commentary on Instagram at: Instagram.com/beckytirabassi
ENCOURAGEMENT: Becky shares a number of quotes from Nouwen’s book on Leadership, In the Name of Jesus, suggesting how leaders must be more open and liberal in giving encouragement (rather than criticism) to others!
ADVOCACY: Nouwen was not only a professor to students for 20 years, but he served as a care-taker to the disabled later in his ministry. His famous servant-leadership stories are both humorous and humble—a wonderful balance for any leader to aspire! Any parent, pastor, professor, or professional will surely be stretched to lead by his suggestions.
DEVOTION: The habit of daily prayer, for Henri Nouwen, was a non-negotiable trait of a leader. In his book, The Way of the Heart, he brought the practical aspects of prayer into the spiritual discipline. Becky is confident that his prayer quotes will change your prayer life—as they hers when she first read them!
This week, enjoy Becky’s virtual guest, Henri J. Nouwen.

The Weekly LEAD - Week 6

Saturday Feb 05, 2022
This week, Becky will challenge you to LEAD in your sphere of influence!
As always, she begins with the “L” in LEAD—which stands for Loyalty to God’s Word. Humorously, she asks, “Are you a BLT Christian?” It’s her way of asking, are you TOO busy or TOO lazy or TOO tired to be a leader? She give the best of quotes from her 100-year old classic favorites, Charles Spurgeon and Oswald Chambers to fire you up. This week in the Change Your Life Daily Bible, you’ll be reading the 10 Commandments! How amazing to think that 4/10 commandments are instruction on how to love God and 6/10 are instruction on how to love others. What might happen if…?
The “E” in LEAD is not just a good idea—to be encouraging to others—it is a strategic way to change every room you enter! Becky shares how she learned from William Wilberforce, through his 1797 book, Real Christianity, how to persevere with a vibrant, genuine faith in a difficult time and culture.
The “A” in LEAD is a reminder that anyone at anytime can be an Advocate for the young generation. Becky shares one of her inspiring “airplane” stories to motivate you.
Finally, the “D” in LEAD is a call to be personally devoted to prayer. Becky shares the story of her decision to pray one hour a day 38 years ago. One prayer, one idea created an ongoing ministry…

Winning coaches always inspire!
This week on The WEEKLY LEAD Podcast, Becky asks the question, “What might God do if…” ALL leaders would respond to the words of Super Bowl winning coaches like John Madden? She takes the LEAD template--to be Loyal to God's Word, Encouraging to each other, Advocates for the Young Generation, and Devoted to prayer--through Madden's 3-part challenge:
1. Be on time (for your appointment with God)
2. Pay attention (to what God is asking you to do--the small prompts), and
3. Play hard when you asked to play hard (and pray hard when asked to pray hard)!
Becky believes the time is NOW to be a leader who is willing to read the Bible daily, change the atmosphere in room by the words you use (or don't use: such as "disappoint"), advocate for the young generation by being a "pen pal", and pray with incredible purpose and power!
This week, The WEEKLY LEAD, gives you the Madden mantra, the story of Henrietta Mears (game-changing founder of the original Fellowship of the Burning Hearts), and a VERY practical idea for both encouraging and advocating for the young generation. It simply takes time and intention!

Being a LEADER is a game-changer! This week, Becky extends the challenge to be:
Loyal to God's Word -- Becky shares her story of making a decision at an event in 1984--yes, 1984--to pray and read the Bible for one hour a day for the rest of her life! Not only does she review the compelling story of Joseph (from this week's reading in the Change Your Life Daily Bible), but share how an 8th grader in her church has read through the Bible twice in two years. "No excuse" leadership, right?
Encouraging to others -- Becky tells one of her classic stories of how a 100-year old story impacted the life of someone this week! The point? When you are prompted to do or say something to someone, even if you feel shy, do it! Encouragement changes lives. Encouragement is serious business!
Advocate for the Young Generation -- Becky is celebrating her 45th anniversary of sobriety and has a really creative example of how you can be an advocate for someone in your life!
Devoted to prayer -- Becky closes with an Oswald Chambers quote, meant to draw you to a decision. Will you consider spending "an hour of power" every day with God in the Word and prayer?

The Weekly LEAD - Week 3
Saturday Jan 15, 2022
Saturday Jan 15, 2022
This week, Becky continues to develop the four tenets of Leadership through the L.E.A.D. lens:
Loyal to God's Word: Believing that the foundation of all leadership is based on the Word of God, she takes listeners and viewers through this week's readings in the Change Your Life Daily Bible--focusing on Jacob in the Old Testament (Genesis 35:1-3) and and the teaching of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew on the 4 types of seeds...with the most productive seed multiplying 100x's! Her look at the Psalms as written prayers, and this week's Proverbs as providing wise advise for every age leader is in her opinion, "must read" material.
Encouragement to Others: Becky loves a great sports story and this week she highlights the story of the first Down Syndrome adult to become an Ironman, illustrating the MOUNTAIN-MOVING POWER of encouragement by parents, coaches and friends toward those in their sphere of influence.
Advocacy for the Young Generation: This week's focus is on Dr. Matthew Sleeth's book, Hope Always, as it gives everyone a BIG "takeaway" for everyone who encounters someone struggling with thoughts of despair and hopelessness.
Devotion to Prayer: As always, Becky talks about her discovery of prayer in 1984, committing to ONE HOUR A DAY for the rest of her life, as a "game-changer" in every area of her life! She closes with a famous, unforgettable (worth remembering) quote by Andrew Murray.

Are you ready to LEAD with Becky?
This week on The WEEKLY LEAD:
Loyalty to God's Word has a fun connection -- Rebecca's brothers (in Genesis) called her "mother of millions!" What would it take to rally one million American women to be weekly leaders (L.E.A.D.)?
Encouragement toward others must be intentional if it going to make a difference in your sphere of influence (and change the atmosphere in the room)! One of Becky's favorite leaders is highlighted: William Wilberforce.
Advocacy for the young generation has always been a part of Becky's work. This week, she shares an finding from her Summative Research paper at Denver Seminary, in which Suicide attempts can be traced to ONE habit that similarly causes substance abuse!
Devotion to prayer, as always (for Becky) is non-negotiable IF you want to be a leader as a parent, student, pastor, professor, politician, or employer. This week, Becky shares how she made the decision in 1984, to pray for one hour a day for the rest of her life -- and shares her proven template.

Welcome to the Weekly LEAD
a Podcast for LEADERS!
I’m Becky Tirabassi Co-Pastor of Viewpoint Church in NB, California, and author of a few books you might have read, including Let Prayer Change Your Life and The Burning Heart Contract.
For over 30 years, I’ve spoken in most of the 50 states in America— to students and adults—and I’ve likely been to where you live. Now, I want you invite you to join me and 1000’s of others for The Weekly LEAD—a Podcast for leaders of every age!
In 2017, after serving as Guest Chaplain of the US House of Representatives, I felt that I should return to Washington, DC and establish a prayer and fellowship house. In 2019, I did just that—I founded The LEAD HOUSE, a prayer and fellowship house on 4 tenets:
1 - Loyalty to God’s Word
2 - Encouragement to Others
3 - Advocacy for the Young Generation and
4 - Devotion to Prayer
Over the past few years, I have seen these tenets change the lives of leaders from every genre and generation.
